Federica Rodella

Turin, 2025
There is no longer a line between human and machine. The merging has already happened, and we no longer know ourselves. Art is a way of knowing this dimension.
Man is becoming a machine in an age of hyper-productivity. I don't stand outside that condition: I work inside it.
I was trained as a philosopher and I make collages — the same gesture: cut a whole into parts, put them back in a different order. Paper from 1960s advertising and scientific journals, now extended by images generated with a machine and finished by hand. The machine is neither tool nor mind: a strange intermediary that returns our categories slightly wrong. The wrongness is where the work is.
Language sits underneath everything — the names we give things, the injury every word carries. Mirrors, NFC tags and augmented reality let the viewer's body into the picture. A work that needs you to stand still in front of it is already a small act of resistance.
Federica Rodella (Turin, 1989) is a visual artist and art director. Her work starts from one observation: human and machine are no longer distinct — the merging has already happened, and we no longer know ourselves. Art is a way of knowing this dimension.
