Paper from the 1960s: advertising sells happiness, scientific journals sell progress. Cut together, they photograph a present where beauty and horror merge — postcards from a past that talks about the future. The only difference lies in words, in the names we give things.

Why matrices
In printmaking the matrix is the plate everything is pulled from. These collages play that role for the whole practice.
The paper
Advertising and science, side by side: two promises that contradict each other. In the contradiction the present becomes visible.
Language
Every word is an injury (Nietzsche); a monster with a name becomes a pet (Derrida). The collages hold both at once.
